In Writing Workshop, students work individually and in groups in order to complete a variety of writing assignments. These assignments stem from our daily assignments, usually reading-related, that we are working on in class.
Many of these writings will be suitable for inclusion in the writing portfolio.
In previous years, the writing portfolio was part of each student’s CATS test scores, but in the 2008-2009 school year the portfolio was removed from assessment. In the 2013-2014 school year, writing/communications re-enters school accountability as a program review.
Student writings will be collected in a pass-along working portfolio that will be revisited and revised each year.
Writing is a part of all classes, not just language arts. Writing is a vital part of all content areas.
